Is there an infrastructure of self that each person can tweak to enhance function and mental wellness?

I'm a  social worker, having completed graduate social work training at Columbia University of New York, followed by a Doctorate in Education (University of Toronto) specializing in Counselling Psychology. I'm a Registered Social Worker in the province of Ontario, and within that license, practice psychotherapy.

I've been in private practice for 20+ years, working with OCD, and difficult to treat conditions. I have had success with some difficult-to-treat conditions (though I don't have experience working with substance abuse or those with Borderline Personality Disorder).

I co-founded the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Toronto with two colleagues. I have advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Processing), Ericksonian therapy and hypnosis.

My work has been featured in dailies and trade magazines across North America. I have presented widely in academic and clinical circles. I'm a published author.

I'm a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals and the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care.

"You tend to get told that the world is the way it is...But that 's a very limited [view]. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact. And that is everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it. You can influence it. You can build your own things that other people can use. And the minute you understand that you can poke life...that you can change it. You can mold it. That's maybe the most important thing - to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you're just going to live in it....And once you learn that, you'll never be the same again."
